Third Day

  • Project Sharing Sessions
  • I felt that with teamwork and communication, anything can be done. Also, the slides are not wordy at all and use various visuals and lastly, the presenters presented well.
  • How do you feel about the SST-NTU Flagship programme?
  • I felt that this programme allowed me to open my eyes on engineering.I thought that engineering was a very mundane and boring subject to study, but through this programme,I saw how interesting and fun engineering could be.Through the student mentors' enthusiasm about engineering,my perception on engineering was changed from one that thinks engineering was a very boring subject to one that thinks engineering can actually be fun and can solve real world problems.

Second Day

  • What did you do today?
  • Today,I went to try out other groups and did on our group's presentation.
  • What did you learn today?
  • I learnt that engineering is not just fixed on building a machine, its also about having the ability to fix a machine.
  • How do you feel about today’s activities?
  • I felt that today's activities is an eye-opening experience,as I get to try out different groups' projects and get to do different things.

First Day

  • What did you do today?
  • I,together with my group mates, built the automatic waste sorter machine. As there are 3 components to complete the machine,we split ourselves into 3 groups.I got assigned to the group to build a striker that would push all magnetic objects to a basket. In the process,we did trial and error and in the end,we managed to have a fully working prototype.
  • What did you learn today?
  • I learnt how to build and innovate a platform for magnetic objects to fall into a basket. This is to help seperate magnetic objects from the non magentic objects.I learnt that with proper management and planning,we can accomplish a project.
  • How do you feel about today’s activities?
  • I felt that building a waste sorter machine will help in the real life situations. For example, there might be a huge number of waste .Without any classification of recycling, many items will just go down in waste and wasted. So,I believe that in real life situations,we can use these kinds of automatic waste sorter machines to recycle more objects.

Pre Camp Reflections

1.What sounds interesting about this project?
I thought that being able to learn on how to sort trash based on their properties is interesting,as it is not commonly seen in real life. Also,I thought that this project can help reduce trash waste in Singapore,as more recyclable materials can be recycled and this will cause a lower amount of waste.
2.What do you think you can learn from this project?
I believe that through this project,I am able to learn how to be able to recycle things based on their properties. Also,I would like to learn a bit of engineering principles,as this experiment requires us to be able to make an automatic waste sorter machine.I also believe that I can be able to make out the things according to the requirements as specified.
